Waterfalls in South Goa serves a great deal of zeal for nature lovers. When beach tourism slows down in monsoon, the goan tourism takes its alternate routes through
waterfalls, treks & adventures.
Explorers would love to visit such places full of lush green hills while on its
treks towards the waterfalls, enjoying nature sounds of birds, gushing water etc.
Yes!! you guessed it right, I am speaking about "Savari Waterfalls" or "Netravali Waterfalls" in Netravali village in Sanguem taluka in Eastern Ghats. Its water source is Kali river basin of East Goa. This waterfall lies in Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary and one has to undergo full checking of the vehicle at the checkpost.
Its around 3 hours journey from Panjim city. One can enjoy a relaxing drive through old
Goan villages after you cross Sanguem city. The roads are smooth and wide, nicely tarred
and one can enjoy their fearless drive through lush green forest listening
to natural music of bird's humming.
The village of Netravali is not so developed or urbanized, yet the locals
there are so friendly and welcoming to the tourist. While on your 3km trek to the actual
waterfall site, one can enjoy the folklore & praxis of village.
At one point on your trek you will be charged some entry fee per person by the officials.
The water gushes from a height of 200ft and the waterfall is around 8 km from
Netravali village. Vehicles can be driven to few kms near the site but at most 2-3 km trekking is unavoidable. Do not forget to carry water to keep you hydrated
through your trek and some snacks to give you energy boost.
After the trek, the scene is set, chilled water gushing down the falls with beautiful
greenery around and lovely boulders to supplement. One can even enjoy swimming
in nearly see through waters.
"This is all about Savari waterfalls. You can leave your comments once you visit this adventurous place, while I come back with few more waterfalls in south itself in my next posts"...
